First major update:
Dear brothers in Christ from HPS,
Sighet Border point
- about 2000 refugees are passing through each day, most of them are women and children
- they are helping register and organize the incoming refugees
- they are collecting food supplies in a warehouse and sending humanitarian convoys each day to Ukraine, some are being sent even as far as Kiev. You will see the pictures attached below
Siret Border point
- The influx of refugees is increasing rapidly. There are between 7-10,000 refugees daily.
- Temperatures are very low and many refugees have been walking for a long time
- We are partnering with an NGO (called Remar) in building tents where people can register
- They are also giving hot beverages and providing shelter from the cold weather in these tents
- They are delivering food supplies to a city in Ukraine, about 45 min from the border
Isaccea Border Point
- Vertical Mamaia Nord’s team has been serving diligently since the beginning of the crisis
- they managed to help 188 refugees so far, 73 of them have already left Romania to other destinations and 115 of them are hosted by the church community
- they are running out of places to host refugees and are now looking to partner with some hotels
Many of our churches are helping locally with hosting refugees and transportation. Some of the refugees have attended our church services this weekend and we had a special prayer service for the crisis in Ukraine. VCE churches are also helping with transportation of refugees in and out of Ukraine, and to their destinations in Europe. A team from Harvest Targu Mures is currently in Ukraine - we will have an update from them in the next email. VCE is now organizing three different teams composed of several of our churches, to help at the three border points where we already work with the refugees.
Needs:
- Prayer
- There is a great need for non-perishable food supplies in Ukraine.
- Translators
- Financial support: for food supplies, transportation, beds and bed supplies, pampers, and personal care/medical supplies
Thank you for partnering and serving with us in the Ukrainian war crisis. Your prayers and contributions are a blessing for the refugees and God is using this to make His Name known.
